Phil Manzanera - Southern Cross mp3 album

Many do not rate this seminal Phil Manzanera album very highly but I believe solidly that it warrants absolutely nil merit, as this is a decisive and divisive course change, veering from dense yet oh so cool rock master stokes like Diamond Head, K-Scope and Listen Now ! But Phil always supplied his muse with parallel projects that encompassed the entire spectrum of progressive rock and his Latin roots never really were espoused beyond a certain guitar machismo. On Southern Cross" Manzanera delves profoundly into his childhood memories living in Venezuela and Cuba.

Phil Manzanera (born Philip Geoffrey Targett-Adams, 31 January 1951) is an English musician and record producer. He was the lead guitarist with Roxy Music, 801, and Quiet Sun. In 2006 Manzanera co-produced David Gilmour's album On an Island and played in Gilmour's band for tours in Europe and North America. He wrote and presented a series of 14 one-hour radio programmes for station Planet Rock entitled The A-Z of Great Guitarists.

Phil Manzanera decided to explore his Cuban roots, and attempted to mix Cuban-style music with rock. Initially he was working toward a more world music-oriented instrumental album. He then met up with is old friend, Tim Finn (remember, Manzanera produced the first Split Enz album), who took it upon himself to write lyrics for the beautiful music he heard demoed by Manzanera. In fact, this album is not so different from the solo music Tim Finn was recording at the time (such as the album Tim Finn)
