OK, Sam & Dave's "Soul Man" breaks the rules somewhat, but most of the album is silky and funky. As long as you know that going in, you won't have any complaints with this tremendously entertaining 17-song compilation

If you have their companion compilation, "Eccentric Soul: The Capsoul Label", this covers the same music scene from Columbus, Ohio, particularly the Capsoul label started by Bill Moss. If you enjoyed that collection, you can expect more of the same strands of sweet soul on this CD. But the relatively short-lived Capsoul label wasn't the end of the story in Columbus, a city not known as being a hotbed of soul music, But listening to this CD and the previous collection, you'd swear it should have been known as such.
