Suzuki’s project Warm Leatherette is a collaboration with Begosi Skhukhuni of South Africa, Neo Mahlasela and technology guru Nathan Gates. Warm Leatherette upcycles old electronic devices that most people would put into the trash: the sort of things that have been replaced completely by apps for your smart phone. They made instruments out of those items by wiring them through sound makers, making a drum out of a television, a guitar from an old boom box and a keyboard made of cell phones.
