Under Milk Wood is a 1972 British drama film directed by Andrew Sinclair and based on the 1954 radio play Under Milk Wood by the Welsh writer Dylan Thomas. It featured performances from many well-known actors as the residents of the fictional Welsh fishing village of Llareggub including Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Siân Phillips, David Jason, Glynis Johns, Victor Spinetti, Ruth Madoc, Angharad Rees, Ann Beach, Vivien Merchant and Peter O'Toole. Richard Burton as First Man.

Michael Lessac is a theatre, television, and film director and screenwriter. Lab in New York City, Lessac produced and directed over thirty productions and maintained and trained a company of eighteen actors, three playwrights, four composers, and a lighting, sound, set design/construction team.

The actor Michael Sheen will direct and star in a production of Under Milk Wood next month at the American theatre where it was first performed. Dylan Thomas presented his play for voices at the 92Y in New York in 1953. Sheen's production will take place on the eve of Thomas's centenary, and will be broadcast live on BBC Radio Wales.

A unique production of Dylan Thomas's famous 'play for voices' enacted by a community of Welsh performers in New York, Los Angeles, London, Cardiff and Laugharne. Michael Sheen opens as First Voice, Sir Tom Jones as Captain Cat and as each of Dylan's iconic characters joins in, the piece builds up into a collage of famous voices and faces (including Matthew Rhys, Ioan Gruffudd, Siân Phillips, Jonathan Pryce, Bryn Terfel and Katherine Jenkins) intercut with evocative imagery inspired by the play and created as part of a live.

Originally produced at the Colonnades Theatre Lab (under the direction of Michael Lessac). Tallulah (Oct 03, 2000 - Mar 18, 2001). Directed by Michael Lessac. Outstanding New Play.

Notes

This private press album features Flo Castner, a friend of Robert Zimmerman (Bob Dylan) at the time he was living in Minneapolis after leaving Northern Minnesota where he lived in Hibbing and spent much time in Duluth.
Flo and Bob Dylan became friends while Bob was attending college in Minneapolis, Minnesota before he headed out to New York City.
Flo Castner is the person who made history by introducing Bob Dylan to the music of Woody Guthrie, as explained in Bob's autobiography. Likely Bob was already a fan of Dylan Thomas at this time, but the fact that this play was written by Dylan Thomas may be seen as a sort of uncanny synchronicity.
