Van Morrison - His Band And The Street Choir mp3 album

His Band and the Street Choir (also referred to as Street Choir) is the fourth studio album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison. It was released on 15 November 1970 by Warner Bros. Originally titled Virgo's Fool, Street Choir was renamed by Warner Bros. without Morrison's consent. Recording began in early 1970 with a demo session in a small church in Woodstock, New York

Released in 1970, Van Morrison's Moondance was a hit commercially and critically. Encouraged by his manager, Morrison and a sextet - including three players from the Moondance sessions - hit the studio and delivered His Band & the Street Choir in time for that year's holiday season. Morrison responded to the pressure by relaxing into it. The feel here is loose, often celebratory. He digs deep into his long-held fascination with the New Orleans R&B tradition for inspiration. Domino" is his highest charting single

F Em Dm G C F C Let it all out; let your voice ring in the street now.

One of Van Morrison's seminal albums "His Band & Street Choir" doesn't get the praiseof "Astral Weeks" or "Moondance" but it is every bit as great as those two albums focusing much more on Morrison's R&B roots than those two other albums even if it isn't as groundbreaking in the way the other two albums were when released

Two of Van Morrison's essential early albums have been given deluxe reissues, with unreleased takes and alternate versions. Astral Weeks remains a singular item in his catalog, and indeed in pop music as a whole. His Band and the Street Choir stands as something of a counter, a record all about the rough and tumble joy of living. Two of Van Morrison's essential early albums have been given deluxe reissues, with unreleased takes and alternate versions. Van Morrison released Astral Weeks in November 1968, not even 18 months after cracking the Billboard Top 10 with "Brown Eyed Girl".

After 'Moondance,' Van Morrison rode a wave of success into the studio to produce 'His Band and the Street Choir. So he entered the studio with a giant wave of momentum to work on his fourth LP, His Band and the Street Choir, which was released in November 1970. The lead single from Street Choir, "Domino," peaked at No. 9, one spot higher than the song that introduced him as a solo artist in 1967, "Brown Eyed Girl. While that track is among Morrison's best-known songs, "Domino" prepped fans for Street Choir, hitting the airwaves weeks before the album's release. The song was a direct response from Morrison to the record executives at Warner Bros

Street Choir’ ends the original album beautifully, and then we have the extra tracks. The alternative takes I preferred– unsurprisingly, they seemed more alive, and even looser than the rest of the album. They have more of a demo feel, an echo-y quality. I can see why Van originally wanted it to be an a capella album; the more stripped-down versions are (obviously) much less ‘produced’ and I can imagine further unvarnished versions. Hearing the talking between songs is rather nice. Van fans will be delighted with the remastering and the extra tracks.
