Celestite is the fifth full-length studio album by American black metal band Wolves in the Throne Room. It was released through their own label Artemisia Records on July 8, 2014. The album explores the themes of the band's previous album Celestial Lineage through an experimental, drone-based dark ambient style, eschewing vocals and the black metal aggression which characterizes their other works.
Wolves in the Throne Room is an American black metal band formed in 2003 in Olympia, Washington by brothers Aaron and Nathan Weaver. They have released six full-length albums, two live albums, and one EP to date. They have stated one of the founding concepts of the band to be channeling the "energies of the Pacific Northwest's landscape" into musical form.
The album begins with Born From the Serpent’s Eye a true thrashing black metal epic that is bisected with a haunting northern lament sung by Swedish star Anna von Hausswolff. The band worked with metal documentarians Peter Beste and Nico Poalillo to create a video for this track which captures a bonfire-lit performance in the forest near their Olympia compound. At the dawning of the Thrice Woven Era, long-time touring guitar player Kody Keyworth was welcomed as a full member of Wolves in the Throne Room. On Thrice Woven, Kody contributes raven’s screams and some of the most brutal and dark riffs. The live line-up also features Peregrine Sommerville (Sadhaka) playing 3rd guitar. The effect of three guitars on stage is mesmerising and truly conjures dark psychedelia of their studio albums. Since the release of THRICE WOVEN the band has toured relentlessly as a headlining act.
Thrice Woven is the sixth studio album by American black metal band Wolves in the Throne Room. The album was released on September 22, 2017 through the band's own record label, Artemisia Records. The album was produced collaboratively with Randall Dunn and recorded primarily in their own recording studio Owl Lodge in Olympia, Washington, which the Weaver brothers built themselves, with the drums recorded at Studio Litho in Seattle.

Celestite, the fifth album from Wolves in the Throne Room, was a major departure for the Olympia, Washington, black metal group, foregrounding synths and drones and forsaking most traces of metal. Drummer Aaron Weaver reveled in the change, explaining how Detroit techno was black metal’s spiritual cousin and that their newly acquired gear didn’t always jibe with their rural surroundings. Thrice Woven lays out the harsh truth about WITTR: They’ve been eclipsed by the movement they spearheaded.

With Thrice Woven, the band’s sixth album to date, Wolves in the Throne Room make an exciting return to black metal after the ambient diversions of 2014’s Celestite, directing classic Cascadian movements in between homages to second wave black metal and forays into haunting European doom. I’m not sure that Wolves in the Throne Room have ever made the same album twice, though some may cough loudly and mumble something about Celestial Lineage. I maintain that it has its own flavor to that of their other records, but in any case the Weavers tend to do something new with every album
