Bathory - Twilight Of The Gods mp3 album

Twilight of the Gods is the sixth studio album by Swedish extreme metal band Bathory. It continues the exploration of the newly created Viking metal style, and also displays heavy epic doom and classical influences; it is titled after an opera by Wagner. It is a mid-tempo, more acoustic album than previous Bathory releases, though it follows on from the Hammerheart album.

Twilight of the Gods may refer to: Ragnarök, in Norse mythology, a series of major events foretold to result in the death of a number of gods. Twilight of the Thunder God, a 2008 album by Amon Amarth. Twilight of the Gods (opera) (Götterdämmerung), the last of the four operas by Richard Wagner that make up The Ring of the Nibelung. Twilight of the Gods (album), a 1991 album by Bathory. Twilight of the Gods, a Bathory tribute band and supergroup, fronted by Alan Averill.

I think Twilight of the Gods would have gone down as absolutely legendary if Quorthon had just done backing vocals (which I think he was able to do pretty well) and had brought on a more talented vocalist to front this album. The melodies here are simply fantastic and would have been fuckin' epic with a singer who could hit the notes perfectly. The album is singularly defined by its title track.

Album Name Twilight of the Gods. Erscheinungsdatum 29 Juni 1991. Labels Black Mark Production. Musik GenreViking Black. Mitglieder die dieses Album besitzen383. 1. Prologue, Twilight of the Gods, Epilogue. This is the last Bathory album to feature a full band line-up. Having lost enthusiasm with metal in general (including black metal), Quorthon's tastes started leaning towards classical music. Those albums from "Blood Fire Death" to this one are proof of his classical influence. The quality of the album is similar to that of "Hammerheart", but this is less black than its predecessor. There aren't many screams to be found, nor any full acoustic tracks.

Twilight of the Gods (1991) by Bathory. Labels: Black Mark Production. Genres: Viking Metal Members: Quorthon, Kothaar, Vvornth. Re-released on red vinyl in 2003 by Black Mark. Originally intended to be the final Bathory album. The tracklisting on the 2003 pressing is: 1. Prologue - Twilight of the Gods - Epilogue, Through Blood by Thunder, Blood and Iron (30:45) 2. Under the Runes (5:58) 3. To Enter Your Mountain (7:36) 4. Bond of Blood (7:36) 5. Hammerheart (4:42) 6. (untitled outro) (0:23). The melody of "Hammerheart" is adapted from the fourth movement of "Jupiter" from The Planets suite by English classical composer Gustav Holst (1874-1934).

Album · 1991 · 8 Songs. After forging the sound of Viking metal on 1990’s Hammerheart, Bathory’s Tomas Quorthon Forsberg returns with more confidence on Twilight of the Gods, alchemizing glacial riffs, classical touches, and Odyssean choruses. He’s at his best on the 11-minute title track, playing all the instruments and multitracking his own voice for a one-man warrior saga. Under the Runes flashes like cold lightning with its distorted guitar harmonics, while Hammerheart reworks an English suite by Gustav Holst into a heartfelt ode to Valhalla. Twilight of the Gods Bathory.

Twilight of the Gods is often denounced as the least aggressive Bathory album, and while it may lack intense drumming and harsh vocals, some of these riffs are pretty fucking heavy, creating a "wall of sound" so to speak. Twilight of the Gods definitely slows things down a bit from what they were before. There is little black metal or thrash metal influence to be found here; instead it has been replaced by doom and power metal, with slower, more melodic riffing. There is also one outlier, "Under the Runes". While Bathory has always had a strong discography disregarding the second album of his fairly watered-down thrash metal era, "Twilight of the Gods" remains his strongest original Viking-era album and may be his strongest overall. I'd rate this among the best albums of all time and every time I listen to it I get the same feeling I have always gotten, and images of epic battles in the North.

Still, when removed from this chronological experiment, there's no denying that Twilight of the Gods is one heck of a heavy metal album. Maybe it could have used a little more of the old-school black metal simplicity of early Bathory, but the band's forward momentum was such at this juncture in their career that a look back, however brief, was simply not in the cards
