Fake It (Seether song). Roger David Glover (born 30 November 1945) is a British bassist, songwriter, and record producer. Glover is best known as the bassist for hard rock bands Deep Purple and Rainbow. Glover wrote the guitar riff on "Maybe I'm a Leo". Fake It" is the first single from Seether's album Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces. The single quickly rose to number one on both the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks and Hot Modern Rock Tracks charts. It also reached number 56 on the Billboard Hot 100, the second highest of their singles after "Broken", which reached number 20.
When Roger Glover learned that he was due to be removed from Deep Purple, he reacted by handing in his resignation, leaving (along with singer Ian Gillan) after a show in Osaka on June 29th 1973, and bringing to an end the most successful period in Deep Purple’s history. Roger flew home and stayed there for three months, rethinking his next move. Deep Purple’s managers asked him to stay with them as an A&R man, and he also chose to work out of the public eye as a producer
The second, longest-standing and current bass player is Roger Glover. As part of the classic lineup, Glover laid down the foundation for classic tracks like Strange Kind Of Woman, Highway Star, and Smoke On The Water - a phrase the bassist came up with. After he was dismissed from Deep Purple in 1973, Glover became a prolific record producer, making records with Rupert Hine, Elf (with a then-unknown Ronnie James Dio), Nazareth, David Coverdale, Status Quo, Judas Priest and Rory Gallagher. The big news, of course, is that Deep Purple has a new album out called Now What?!.
