John Cale - Paris 1919 mp3 album

Paris 1919 is the third solo studio album by Welsh musician John Cale. It was released on 25 February 1973 by Reprise Records. Musicians such as Lowell George and Wilton Felder worked with Cale on the release. Its title is a reference to the 1919 Paris Peace Conference, and song contents explore various aspects of early 20th century Western Europe culture and history.

She makes me so unsure of myself Standing there but never ever talking sense Just a visitor you see So much wanting to be seen She'd open up the doors and vaguely carry us away. It's the customary thing to say or do To a disappointed proud man in his grief And on Fridays she'd be there And on Mondays not at all Just casually appearing from the clock across the hall.

It’s hard to point to one album and say it’s John Cale’s best. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if most people put this atop their lists. As far as the lyrics go, there are general themes of love, war, impending violence, the passage of time, and peace, but it’s hard to pin point what this album is specifically about. Cale once said in an interview that the lyrics are personal to him, but they are heavily abstracted. Producers Chris Thomas.

Reviews about John Cale - Paris 1919 (11):
Direbringer
This seems to be a duplicate of John Cale - Paris 1919 Variant 2.
SARAND
Chiming in to confirm that this is a terrible pressing. Sounds very bad.
Datrim
Mine is a German pressing (stated on both album cover and record labels album) with the same catalogue number
Goldfury
I'm not much of an audiophile (ironic, I know), so if I think a record sounds terrible it really does. And this record sounds terrible.
Delan
Probably the worst-sounding record in my collection. Do not buy this pressing! The album itself is very good.
Ganthisc
Sounds muffled. As if there was cotton in one's ears. Are other pressings better?
HeonIc
One of the very worst-sounding pressings of anything I've ever heard. Unlistenable.
Muniath
My copy is "Made in UK", no WEA logo on labels. Side are numbered "SIDE ONE" and "SIDE TWO". Matrix reads 44239 A1/B1 respectively. "RAYS" is engraved in runout on side one. Sleeve by Shorepack. Cannot find it among the releases listed here.
Arador
What a fine album this is. Often overlooked when it coms to real good + important albums, that are gorgeous from start to finish, have a certain stand alone quality without sounding weird at all. I think this is what confuses the occasional listener most here. This record sounds so nice and harmless you could think you are listening to a Caravan album, but the more intense you listen the more rewarding the music and the songs get. From the simply lovely hanky Panky Nohow over Tea With Graham Greene through half past france to the 'paranoid old movie queen.." on Antarctica starts here the mood changes from a tea time conversation tone to something filled with angst and paranoia. The music paints the canvas just perfectly - imagine The core of Little Feat plus the ever present Pete Kleinow taking care of slide. The production by Chris Thomas sounds brilliant and polished like a Queen album.Alll that couldn't lift this to Gold status or fame. More a footnote in Rockhistor, but it is music like that I like to revisit after decades to hear that they still have something to tell me. Checkit out if you

Agree 100%. Always been one of my all-time favourite albums. The only pity is that it barely lasts around the 30 minute mark.
