David Ruffin is the self-titled album from singer David Ruffin. This album in many ways was a collaborative effort with Bobby Miller, who produced the album. Miller also had a hand in composing eight of its tracks  . com/David Ruffin (album). David (Greek: Δαυΐδ; fl.

Ruffin began his solo career strongly in 1969 with "My Whole World Ended," taking both the single and accompanying album to the top of the Soul charts and the Pop top 10. The uptempo follow up single, "I've Lost Everything I've Ever Loved" was also a gem, but began a slow five year descent on the Soul charts. While personal demons dogged David Ruffin nearly his entire adult life, his vocal performances as a Temptation and as a solo singer are still revered by fans around the world. And though his musical legacy is sufficiently strong to consider him among the all time great Soul Music singers, it is tragic that David Ruffin never achieved truly singular, sustained greatness that his talent warranted.

It might be titled "The Ultimate Motown Collection," and certainly it's the most comprehensive Jimmy Ruffin CD compilation to hit the market, with two discs and 48 tracks, a dozen of them previously unreleased. It still doesn't have everything he did for the label, and the absence of no less than four of the 11 tracks that appeared on the best previous Ruffin CD comp (20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Jimmy Ruffin) testifies to the variance of taste among those responsible for assembling these anthologies.
