James Gang - Thirds mp3 album

The band was on its last legs, rent by dissension as Walsh became the focus of attention, and the appropriately titled Thirds reflected the conflict. Among the nine original songs, four were contributed by Walsh, two each by bass player Dale Peters and drummer Jim Fox, and one was a group composition.

Thirds is the third studio album by James Gang, released in 1971, and is the last studio album led by Joe Walsh. The Walsh period comes to a close with the release of the live album James Gang Live in Concert. The original band members were drummer Jimmy Fox, bassist Tom Kriss, guitarist Ronnie Silverman, keyboardist Phil Giallombardo, and guitarist Greg Grandillo, who was quickly replaced by Dennis Chandler. Bill Jeric replaced Silverman when he entered the service.

The James Gang was seemingly on the road to career prosperity after the success of their sophomore album, Rides Again, but that didn’t necessarily pave the way for a predictable, or even smooth process when time came to record their next studio record, the obviously named Thirds. In fact, the power trio composed of vocalist/guitarist Joe Walsh, bassist Dale Peters and drummer Jim Fox were somewhat short on new material, as Fox recalled when speaking to Ultimate Classic Rock’s Matt Wardlaw

James Gang Format: Audio Cassette. If you love Joe Walsh, and I do, then you'll want this record, his final studio album with James Gang. The band were never the same again, despite the injection of great guitarists such as Tommy Bolin and Domenic Troiano. Walsh, of course, has made a handful of great solo records as well as three Eagles records. He clearly came out the winner in the split with The Gang. Get "Thirds" if you want a taste of what might have been. 2 people found this helpful.
