Procol Harum - Live In Concert With The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra mp3 album

Procol Harum Live: In Concert with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, by the English band Procol Harum together with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, was released in 1972; it was recorded at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 18 November 1971. The album was very successful on the Billboard Top 200, peaking at No. 5. It is the band's best-selling album, certified Gold by the RIAA.

This whole album was an afterthought - Procol Harum had been invited to play a concert with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and the Da Camera Singers in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, in August of 1971, at the tail-end of their last tour with Robin Trower in the lineup.

On this album, Procol Harum use the orchestra simply as an additional band member. Others such as Caravan ("& the new Symphonia"), Yes ("Yessymphonic"), and the Moody Blues ("Red Rocks"), have successfully done so since in a live environment, but for me, PH were the first. The appeal of this album is enhanced significantly by the track selection. The live version of "Conquistador" was released as a single and it was a hit. . Wilson& drums are very powerful in all the songs.

Procol Harum founder, Gary Brooker wrote the parts for the Edmonton Symphony and Da Camera Singers for these compositions that are among the band's most notable pieces, emanating from previous studio albums such as A Salty Dog (Regal Zonophone, 1969), the band's debut, Procol Harum (Regal Zonophone, 1967) and others. In addition, this version of "Conquistador" was a released as a single and was a commercial smash, subsequent to their timeless 1967 classic, "A Whiter Shade of Pale
