The Association - Windy mp3 album
The Association is the group's eponymous fifth studio album ( 32). It is an eclectic LP with songs in many different styles including rock, pop, blue-eyed soul, psychedelic, country and novelty, while still staying in the realm of sunshine rock and sunshine pop. Although generally well received by the critics, it did not spawn any hit singles. It was the last studio album featuring guitarist Russ Giguere, who left for a solo career in 1971.
Windy" is a pop music song written by Ruthann Friedman and recorded by the Association. Released in 1967, the song reached on the Billboard Hot 100 in July of that year. Overseas, it went to in Australia, and in Yugoslavia. Later in 1967 an instrumental version by jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery became his biggest Hot 100 hit when it peaked at #44.

When The Association turned "Windy" into a massive hit, it gave her both rent money and validation. Her mother pegged her as a secretary, and made her take a course hoping she would go that route. Instead, she left her family behind in the Bronx and headed for California to make music. Friedman released a solo album in 1969 called Constant Companion, it didn't include "Windy," since she didn't want to be known just for that song, especially since the hit version was such a departure from her original. She did play the song at her shows, but did it as more of a Blues number and never included the "ba-ba" vocals, which she hated. Music remained a part of her life into the '10s, when she could still be seen performing around Los Angeles. She plays "Windy" because the crowd wants to hear it. "It's a very important song.

That Collectables' ten-track overview of the Association includes notable cuts like "Along Comes Mary," "Windy," and "Requiem for the Masses" but omits prominent hits such as "Cherish" and "Never My Love" should be warning enough to those looking for a definitive - albeit brief - anthology of the group, and its decidedly sparse - as in nonexistent
