The Records - Starry Eyes mp3 album

The Records were an English power pop band formed in 1978. They are best remembered for the hit single and cult favourite "Starry Eyes". The Records formed out of the ashes of the Kursaal Flyers, a pub rock group featuring drummer Will Birch. In 1977, John Wicks joined the band as a rhythm guitarist, and he and Birch quickly started writing songs together, Wicks as composer, Birch as lyricist.

Recorded live at The Paradiso, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on September 27, 1981. All songs (unless noted otherwise) written by & lead vocals (unless stated otherwise) are by Doug Sahm. Track 6, listed as "Goin' To San Antone" is actually one of their warhorses "(Is Anybody Going To) San Antone", although, this version is a very rare "uptempo" version, quicker in pace than any others recorded before

In both "Your Starry Eyes" and "Heaven Like", the drums drive the chorus and offer some unique parts in the verses. The first single released by the band, "Let It Out", is safe like the first two songs on the record, though with a thundering chorus to help the song stand out. However, the following song, "Line of Fire", may stand out the most on the album. Opening with a dark (albeit basic) guitar riff, the song leaps into this screaming/singing dynamic in the chorus that works in a strange way and opens up a new, heavier direction for Parabelle.
