Yob (stylized as YOB) is an American doom metal band from Eugene, Oregon, composed of singer/guitarist Mike Scheidt, bassist Aaron Rieseberg, and drummer Travis Foster. Their most recent album Our Raw Heart was released in June 2018. Before founding YOB, Scheidt had been a bass guitarist with the hardcore bands Chemikill, Dirty Sanchez, and . Scheidt switched to guitar and vocals and founded YOB in 1996 with bassist Lowell Iles and drummer Greg Ocon.

Every Yob album is an excursion down the most brutal doom corridors, and "The Great Cessation" is probably the heaviest one of all, and that is no small task. Even on "The Lie That Is Sin", where a clean note or two present themselves, the intervention of massive chords, bass and drums comes on so suddenly you almost jump, so ferocious is the contrast.
