A-ha was formed in 1982 by vocalist Morten Harket, guitarist Paul Waaktaar-Savoy, and keyboardist Magne Furuholmen. The band moved to London and eventually signed with Warner Bros. Their next album, Lifelines was released in 2002, but would be their final album for Warner Bros. After signing to Polydor (part of Universal Music), further new albums were released in 2005 and 2009, after which the band decided to break up. However, they reformed for yet another new album, Cast in Steel, which was released in 2015. Morten Harket, Magne Furuholmen and Paal Waaktaar-Savoy have been awarded Spellemannprisen nine times; Through 2009 A-ha had sold over 100 million records worldwide.

In the course of their career, a-ha has released ten studio albums and three live albums, in addition to a number of compilations and deluxe album reissues. MTV Unplugged - Summer Solstice (2017). a-ha Hits South America (2016). Time and Again: The Ultimate A-Ha (2016).

A-ha Tour Brasil – Agosto 2002. This album was followed by Lifelines (2002); Analogue (2005), which was certified Silver in the UK; and Foot of the Mountain (2009), which was certified Silver in the UK and reached the UK Top Five 5. On 15 October 2009, the band announced they would split after the 2010 worldwide Ending on a High Note Tour. Thousands of fans from at least 40 different countries on six continents congregated to see A-ha for the last leg of the tour. On 4 December 2014, A-ha officially announced its participation at Rock In Rio 2015, which celebrated 30 years for both the band and the event

According to the band's official timeline, 90,000 people attended to the live concert in Rio (Apoteose). More shows in São Paulo were performed days later. The band's popularity in Brazil would rise for a record of 198,000 people attending for their show in Rock In Rio II (1990).

a-ha ended their Cast In Steel tour in Bergen on Saturday, 7 May, with an outdoor concert in front of 16,000 people at Bergenhus Festning. The organizers took a risk when deciding to have the concert outdoors so early in the season, in a city known for getting a lot of rain, but luckily the weather turned out to be warm and sunny – something Magne joked about when he spoke to the crowd: Hello Bergen! This is fantastic. Welcome to the final a-ha concer. on this tour. Very nice to be invited here. This means that although it’s called the Cast In Steel Tour, a mere two out of twenty songs last night were actually from the new album – the lowest number of new songs they’ve ever played on a tour supporting a recent album.
