Builders - High Thirties Piano mp3 album
Bilders (or Builders) is a New Zealand music group of varying lineups that produced a string of self-recorded 7-inch vinyl releases between 1980 and 1982 leading to Beatin Hearts, the first studio-album from fledgling New Zealand independent record label 'Flying Nun Records'. Known variously from pre-internet times as Die Bilder (German, for "The Pictures"), Bilderbergers, Soluble Fish, and High Thirties Piano, their alternative band names reflected a playfulness that challenged priority branding
Beatin Hearts is Direen’s 1983 album, which has the distinction of being the first full-length LP ever released on Flying Nun. It’s just been re-released by New York-based Grapefruit records, and together with the fact that Direen is currently making a small tour of New Zealand – his first in a number of years – makes it a good time to revisit it. At the time this album was made, the first wave of local punk bands had been and gone, having established the idea that music could be anyone’s playground, and not just the domain of slick professionals with major label deals. But the name he has used most often over the years is the Builders and it was in this guise that the Beatin Hearts album was made for Flying Nun, which included new recordings of several of the songs from the EPs, plus a whole lot more. At almost an hour in length, it is a true long player, and it’s not fleshed out with gratuitous noodling.
Weaned on a garage band youth in the late 60's, Direen started producing 7" records in the early 80's, all of them stunners These releases - Six Impossible Things, Die Bilder, Soloman's Ball and High Thirties Piano - were self-financed and distributed though Flying Nun (and recently reissued by the benevolent Unwucht label). Beatin Hearts is his ultimate, unforgettable debut album, not to mention Flying Nun's first full-length album release. Seventeen tracks, all brilliant short pieces of energy, harmony and spite.

As for the music itself, the charm and quality of Direen's songwriting is high no matter what the sound - High Thirties Piano runs through the gritty but thoroughly melodic pop that's at the center of his work, Above Ground sports something of a Doors influence with its atmospheric keyboard drones, Bilders takes this influence into cleaner, more pop-oriented territory
