Various - Martin Scorsese Presents Red, White And Blues A Film By Mike Figgis mp3 album

6 Red, White and Blues. Director Martin Scorsese pays tribute to the Delta blues, tracing the roots of the music by traveling through the state of Mississippi with the musician Corey Harris and then traveling to West Africa. Willie King, Taj Mahal, Othar Turner and Ali Farka Touré give performances of early Delta blues songs, along with rare archival film of Son House, Muddy Waters, and John Lee Hooker. Written and directed by Charles Burnett, this film presents the tale of a young boy traveling to Mississippi to visit relatives. He is caught between the pressures of his religious mother and gospel music, and the eagerness of his blues-loving uncle. Directed by Mike Figgis, this episode is dedicated to blues culture in Britain and to the effect of the British Invasion on American blues culture.

Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues Red, White, Blues: Director Mike Figgis joins musicians such as Van morrison, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Tom Jones performing and talking about the British blues boom from the late 1950s onwards. A Thoughtful and musically uplifting analysis of the influence of the blues on British musicians and the re-export of the music to America. Actor: Director: Country: Duration: Quality: HD.

Mike Figgis joins musicians Van Morrison, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, John Mayall, Lonnie Donegan and Tom Jones as they perform and talk about the British blues boom from the late 1950s onwards. This documentary film really is very good. It is not just a sequence of excellent pieces of music by famously talented players, they are there to illustrate an in-depth analysis of how and why the Brits took hold of the blues and sent it back to the States. Figgis presents the main players in the British blues boom of the 60. onnie Donegan and Ramblin Jack Elliot have a dig at each other, the former doing a great derogatory skiffle impression.

Director Mike Figgis' documentary Red, White & Blues, one of the seven parts of the PBS-TV series The Blues presented by Martin Scorsese, is ironically named, since it actually concerns itself with the British response to American blues music, among other styles. Truth be told, the British, appreciating American music of the 1950s and earlier entirely through recordings, have always tended to mix things up, failing to acknowledge distinctions between jazz, blues, gospel, folk, and R&B that Americans take for granted. Relatively little of this music is what an American blues fan would call blues, except in the sense of roots and influences. Figgis adds to this eclecticism the core band he assembled and filmed for the documentary, the performances of which are interspersed with the older tracks here.

Red, White and Blues by director Mike Figgis explains the blues impact on classic rock in the 60's and 70's. This is a straight interview piece that covers the British invasion by the music and its branching out to the world. Martin Scorsese Presents: The Blues - A Musical Journey (2003) {Snapper Music}.
