Jimmy Webb - Letters mp3 album
Letters is the fourth album by American singer-songwriter Jimmy Webb, released in 1972 by Reprise Records. Letters was a more sedate, piano-oriented album than its predecessors, and soaked in the influence of Webb's peer and eventual close friend Joni Mitchell. I was tremendously influenced by Joni Mitchell," he admitted to Peter Doggett of Record Collector in 1994. She was a good friend, and I was fortunate enough to be around her when she was working on For the Roses and Court and Spark.
Much of the rest of the album, however, has Webb working within a more conventional pop/rock setting, beginning with "Campo de Encino," which comes complete with flute courtesy of Skip Mosher. Webb brushes up against the outer boundaries of his vocal range and expressiveness on several of these numbers, yet, surprisingly, moves nimbly through a rendition of the classic "Love Hurts," which also benefits from a fairly inventive, slightly dissonant, and airy orchestration.
Letters is the fourth album by American singer-songwriter Jimmy Webb, released in 1972 by Reprise Records. Regarded by many critics as Jimmy's best solo album, Letters finds Webb working in a number of styles, but none quite so devastating as his simple, acoustic rendition of the hit he penned for Glen Campbell, Galveston. A more mainstream album in both sound and content than his previous Reprise efforts.

This new album once again unites Jimmy Webb with some of today’s biggest selling and most enduring artists for once-in-a-lifetime performances, including the iconic MacArthur Park. In celebration of the Park’s 45th Anniversary, Jimmy reached out to Brian Wilson for his inspirational vocal harmonies, which take this American Classic soaring to new heights. The album is full of inspirational vocal performances from the breathless seduction of Carly Simon on Easy For You To Say to the joyful contemporary styling of Keith Urban on Where's The Playground, Susie.
