Black Sabbath is the debut studio album by the English rock band Black Sabbath. Released on 13 February 1970 in the United Kingdom and on 1 June 1970 in the United States, the album reached number eight on the UK Albums Charts and number 23 on the Billboard charts. Black Sabbath is widely considered the first heavy metal album. Additionally, the opening track of the album-Black Sabbath-is widely considered to be the first doom metal song.

2009 album from this reformed quartet of former Black Sabbath members fronted by Ronnie James Dio. When Metal masters Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Vinny Appice reunited for the first time in 15 years to record new bonus tracks for Rhino's 2007 compilation Black Sabbath: The Dio Years, an otherworldly force reignited their musical connection. 'Everyone had so much fun playing together that we didn't want it to end,'' the band recalls. It didn't: they reformed as Heaven & Hell and staged a triumphant, sold-out world tour throughout 2007-2008.

The discography of Black Sabbath, a British heavy metal band, includes 19 studio albums, six live albums, 12 compilation albums, seven video albums, one extended play and 30 singles. The band was formed in 1968 by John "Ozzy" Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (lead guitar), Terence "Geezer" Butler (bass guitar), and Bill Ward (drums). Throughout their history, the band experienced multiple lineup changes.

Black Sabbath are the forefathers of heavy metal, says Rick Rubin, the producer of the band’s most recent album 13. They may well be the heaviest band of all time. And I don’t know of a more influential band other than The Beatles. This song, titled Black Sabbath after a horror movie starring Boris Karloff, was based on an Iommi riff that incorporated the tri-tone, known as ‘The Devil’s Interval’. The lyrics warned that Satan’s coming round the bend. And with this as their calling card, the band – renamed as Black Sabbath – would open up a new frontier for rock music. Much of Sabbath’s legendary reputation rests on the first six albums recorded by the original and classic line-up. It was a completely original sound, Rick Rubin says.

Black Box: The Complete Original Black Sabbath (2004). Box Set Containing the Ozzy era studio albums. Symptom of the Universe: The Original Black Sabbath (2002). Live Album – Contains the previously unofficial Live at Last live album. Live Album – First Official one with Ozzy. The Sabbath Stones (1996). Thank you. Other, Unofficial Albums & Tributes. The albums below are a limited selection of tribute albums and other Sabbath related discs. This is by no means an attempt to be exhaustive. These ones interested me in one fashion or another, that’s the sole criteria for their inclusion here.

And suddenly you were in a band called Black Sabbath who half the country thought were satanists! We did have an interest in the occult. Well, Geezer and myself watched horror films, but we’d get witches at the shows. One night we got back to the hotel and there was a whole row of them in black cloaks, sitting on the floor, chanting. We had to step over them to get in our rooms. In the end we blew their candles out and sang Happy Birthday to them. We were staying at his house to do an album. Ian Gillan from Deep Purple was our singer at the time (4), but he erected a marquee outside to sleep. Ian said: I want the fresh air for my voice and all that rubbish.

Too bad this show has never been upgraded, as it's still the best I've ever heard from 1980. (Unfortunately, "Dance Of The Devil" runs a bit fast, and is also incomplete.)I think I saw the actual taper after this show - some guy casually striding away from the main stage with a reel-to-reel deck strapped about him, lol. Not sure how he got it past security, as I barely snuck my cassette-recorder in myself. And yes, I did capture a great recording, but lost the two master tapes sometime in the Eighties, sorry.
