Splash - Babylon / Heaven mp3 album

referencing Babylon, Heaven, 12", DJX022. Babylon is an absolute essential entry in any REAL Jungalist collection. No disrepect to some of the classics in the ilk of The Licence, Super Sharp Shooter, 6 Million ways or any other overplayed classic that any old raver can roll of, Babylon is for the headz, far from a hidden gem, but most definately a stone cold classic for those that know. Heaven is a much more stripped back affair. Simple bassline but warm and powerful. Nice twisted teases of Circles and some tripped out samples to complete the mood.

A tune full of dark atmosphere, rolling amens, drum reverses, sirens and of course the infamous vocal sample taken from the seminal Rockers movie. The vocal has been used across many a tune from Furney to Pix3l, but no one touches its use in this tune. A host of remixes over the years, my choice being Carl's effort, tho DJ Future gave it a good seeing to recenetly, however I still always favour the original myself.Heaven is a much more stripped back affair. Simple bassline but warm and powerful. Nice twisted teases of Circles and some tripped out samples to complete the mood. A good effort but no Babylon. A Fucking Class A record from Undercover Agent.

The track "Babylon" fades out at the end on this press. This is probably why they decided to put it on to a full 12"

Like remarc once said 'babylon drops and its an instant wheel up' big tune
Low_Skill_But_Happy_Deagle
Both sides are amazing. Side A is a battering ram of a track with its ridiculous bass, and stretched breaks. This is dance floor destruction and mayhem. Such an anthem. Side B is a much lighter affair, but it still has a great bouncy basslines, dreamy atmospheres and killer chopped beats.

i bet you did mate - cos its a laserdrome slap the walls beast of a track
Mr_TrOlOlO
Track B "Heaven" is pressed as a 10" on the 12" vinyl. "Babylon" gets the full 12" press
Ichalote
This came out around 2000. I assumed it was a bootleg at the time but I could be wrong.
Kardana
not sure. i think DeeJay started repressing some stuff around that time if i remember.
Thomand
If you are going to buy a copy of this tune then this repress really is the best one to get. It has the best mixes of this track on one slab of wax!
GODMAX
Top classic tune and top artwork ! it's greater PEZ at work !!! 90 % all classic rave flyers his work ! But that Dee Jay guy made DJ Crystl or possible graffity boy - Antick, see journal Wrecken Shop 1993.

Artwork nauseating?? Oh mate, really? This was such a part of the era when Jungle was around with graffiti and hip hop directly influencing Jungle producers and artists. For me this a defining piece of that era and in no way could I ever see it as nauseating.I remember going into shops around Soho in London and seeing covers like this and just grabbing them and often not even bothering to listen on the deck stations, just rushing home, crank up my system and blast them out - Oh,... the good ole days
Ionzar
Is this a ten inch record pressed onto a twelve? I swear I saw one of these with a red label once. Wish I bought it when I did.

!2" version is what I have.
Faehn
There are definitely two SS remixes, one got released, one did not...
Cashoutmaster
It's possible that this is a dj ss mix?
Lesesshe
Iv'e never quite understood how the artwork on the sleeve of this release turned out so nauseatingly bad. Someone went a bit mad with Photoshop back in the nineties ide say... However both sides of this record are absolute classics. Must have for any Junglist! ;)
Urtte
Airbrushed actually. And my point still stands i'm not really a fan of this sleeve as iconic as it might be
Conjukus
The artwork is seminal. One of the most iconic of that era, it is completely representative of the UK Graff/B-boy scene in that period. It's a fucking legenary piece of sleeve art. -Also There was no photoshop in 94. No one was using home software like you think of it today to do graphic design. This would have been hand drawn and printed.
Mohn
The artwork is very creative. You cannot forget it!
Leyl
Stick your artwork up your back door!
Andromakus
It took me a while to realise back in the day, but the sleeve artwork is actually a photo of a Dee Jay recordings picture disc on an actual deck with an actual stylus on it, that's why they guy looks like he has a large lip-piercing and the stylus is at an odd angle!
Onetarieva
I used to have this once and the B side "Heaven" was a ten pressed onto a twelve. Now many many years ago I saw a one sided test press of babylon that was a ten pressed onto a twelve and it had a red label, either Dee Jay recordings or possibly Lucky Spinn. Personally I think it is the latter as it was the same one of the Trace lost entity red and black labels used. I saw this in Randals tunes that he had sold to Chris Energy at a record fair and I wished I had bought it now!
Oreavi
Stone cold Classic, This should be a prized possession of all junglists!!!!
