Hans Kindler - Songs Without Words mp3 album
Songs Without Words (Lieder ohne Worte) is a series of short lyrical piano pieces by the Romantic composer Felix Mendelssohn, written between 1829 and 1845. His sister Fanny Mendelssohn and other composers also wrote pieces in the same genre. The eight volumes of Songs Without Words, each consisting of six "songs" (Lieder), were written at various points throughout Mendelssohn's life, and were published separately.
From early concertos and sonatas he quickly established his ‘mature’ style in works such as the Rondo capriccioso, and the Andante cantabile e Presto agitato. The masterpieces that followed include the famous Songs without Words/Lieder ohne Worte. On this complete recording, these piano 'songs' are played by Dutch pianist Frank van der Laar. 00:00:00 Andante con moto, in E Major, Op. 19 No. 1 00:03:50 Andante espressivo, in A Minor, Op.

Walter Gieseking's 1956 EMI recording of 17 of Mendelssohn's Songs Without Words was produced in clean, warm monaural sound by Alec Robertson, and Gieseking was so far beneath the skin of the music that he seemed to be creating it on the fly rather than performing an existing score. Re-released by EMI in 1998 in clear, deep sound, Gieseking's Mendelssohn should be heard by everyone who loves great romantic piano music. Song Without Words for piano No. 1 in E major, Op. 19b/1. 2. 6 in G minor ("Venetianisches Gondellied"), Op. 19b/6.
Taken as a whole, Songs Without Words is a comprehensive and illuminating portrait of Fred Hersch as he continues to explore and expand the role of solo piano in jazz while also offering glimpses of his work in other settings. Songs Without Words is Hersch's sixth Nonesuch release.
