The Beatings - Holding On To Hand Granades mp3 album
The Beatings make rock n’ roll reminiscent of Sonic Youth, Pixies, and Mission of Burma. The great Paul Q. Kolderie (Pixies, Hole, Radiohead) helped produce their latest album Holding on to Hand Grenades. It’s a 16-track, punk-rock tinged album. Vocalists Tony Skalicky and Eldridge Rodriquez have all the bases covered for a great post-punk vocal soun. rom Joy Division-esque droning to Frank Black like yelping.
That said, at 61 minutes, Holding on to Hand Grenades is too long. Seven of the album's 16 songs run north of five minutes; if the songs were more concise, they would have less need for the mid-song tempo shifts. Trim 20 minutes from the album and the Beatings would be more powerful. They've got it in them to do so, too, as Hand Grenades' most complete thought may be the 90-second "CoIntelPro" - quick, punky, and not too mopey. If the band strikes a balance between 1'30" and 5'00", morale will improve and the Beatings will continue

A grenade is an explosive weapon typically thrown by hand, but can also refer to projectiles shot out of grenade launchers. Generally, a grenade consists of an explosive charge, a detonating mechanism, and firing pin inside the grenade to trigger the detonating mechanism. Once the soldier throws the grenade, the safety lever releases, the striker throws the safety lever away from the grenade body as it rotates to detonate the primer.
