It Began in Afrika" is a song by British electronic music duo The Chemical Brothers. It was released as the first single from their fourth album Come with Us on 10 September 2001. Originally named "Electronic Battle Weapon 5" and released for DJs as a white label in June 2001, "It Began in Afrika" became a hit in clubs and was renamed for its official release. The song contains vocal samples from the track "Drumbeat" by American musician Jim Ingram.

This samples the title track of Jim Ingram's 1974 album Drumbeat. Jim Ingram produced various soul and spoken word albums in the 1960s and 1970s. The Chemical Brothers were asked by Planet Dust if Jim Ingram's vocal sample in "It Began in Afrika" inspired the rest of the song: Tom Rowlands: "The vocal helped make sense of the song.

All profits made from the sale of this compilation will be donated to the choir and their further projects; . building schemes, the founding of nurseries, and schools to help children get away from a life on the streets.
