Gigi is a 1958 jazz album by André Previn, Shelly Manne and Red Mitchell. The full album name is Modern Jazz Performances of Songs from Gigi. The album was recorded in April 1958. The three musicians were pianist André Previn, bassist Red Mitchell, and drummer Shelly Manne. The material consists of eight songs from the musical Gigi. The Penguin Guide to Jazz described the album in 1992 as having a "dated charm"

Pal Joey (full title Modern Jazz Performances of Songs from Pal Joey) is a jazz album by pianist André Previn & His Pals, bassist Leroy Vinnegar and drummer Shelly Manne, recorded in 1957 and released on the Contemporary label. The album features Previn's jazz interpretations of songs from Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart's broadway musical, Pal Joey and followed the success of Manne's 1956 album, My Fair Lady. The album was recorded roughly at the same time as the release of the motion picture.

André Previn's ten records for Contemporary during 1957-1960 were among the finest jazz recordings of his career. Several of the albums were jazz interpretations of scores from Broadway shows although, ironically, the best-known one, My Fair Lady, came out under drummer Shelly Manne's name. For this particular CD reissue, Previn, Manne, and bassist Red Mitchell perform eight songs from the Lerner & Loewe show Gigi. Previn had won an Oscar for his adaptation of the score, so he knew this music quite well.

Shelley Manne certainly could have followed his best-selling jazz adaptation of My Fair Lady with a better choice than Li’l Abner, a lackluster musical with a Broadway run shorter than the playing time of the album. The indifference with which the public greeted it should come as no surprise; Li’l Abner features instantly forgettable tunes with unwieldy titles like Progress Is The Root Of All Evil, and the bottom line is that the material simply isn’t up to the caliber of the players. Personnel: Shelley Manne-drums; Leroy Vinnegar-bass; Andre Previn-piano. Title: Modern Jazz Performances of Songs From Li'l Abner Year Released: 2003 Record Label: Fantasy Jazz.
