I stumbled onto this only recently after finding Fila Brazilia's remix of "Sightly Elevated" and deciding to check out the original. Very cool album - party music indeed. Funk, Jazz, House and Hip-Hop are all embodied in some form or another here, generally very funky; the perfect kind of music to play in the late afternoon/early evening at a laid back bar. This is the kind of stuff that everyone and anyone can enjoy, even those not interested in electronic music.

Beef Wellington’s debut, Feel Fantabulous, doesn’t stray far from its trip hop and acid jazz roots, but it’s a mighty tree. The funk is in full effect on “Dedication,” while “Threes,” which appeared on a Pork compilation, is downtempo magic, with a breathless rap to push it along. Vocalist Melissa Mya adds shot of soul right into the veins: “All I Need” is downtown funk. “Slightly Elevated” has some nice horn work, while “Tacet” is much more delicate and quiet. “Where’s the Beef” takes you back to party funk without a doubt. While the album as a whole flows well, there seems to be something missing, that extra ingredient that would take it to the next level. Still, it’s great party music, so don’t be shy to throw it on your platter.
