Psychedelic pop is pop music that contains musical characteristics associated with psychedelic music. This includes "trippy" effects such as fuzz guitars, tape manipulation, sitars, backwards recording, and Beach Boys-style harmonies. Blended with pop, they create melodic songs with tight song structures.

At times, psychedelic pop songs were studio creations, but there were organic bands such as Sagittarius whose psychedelia was considerably bright and melodic; there were distinct Beach Boys influences, but they weren't as bubblegum as, say, the Lemon Pipers' "Green Tambourine. Because it had a stronger pop content, psychedelic pop had a slightly longer shelf-life than psychedelia, existing into the early '70s, which is a little odd.

Reviews about Various - Mr. Toytown Presents... (Obscure Psychedelic, Popsyke & Soft-Pop 45s, 1969-1974) (2):
Thanks for the information. Can you tell me where I might find the track listing for Volume 4 and where I might source it? An Internet search doesn’t bring anything up about Mr. Toytown Presents Volume 4.
Toytown Records have released 4 (that I've been able to find) 'Mr. Toytown presents...' compilations, and I belive that this one is the best. The series is focused on bubblegum pop of the late 60s, early 70s-era. The titles that they offer I've not seen comp'd elsewhere, and I commend them on digging do deeply for fresh content. Generally, sound quality is acceptable, but only just. Highlights include: Christophe's 'Da Da Song part 1': Christophe was a French pop-star in those days, but this dark, psychedelic track is an interesting departure from his typical romance/ballad fare. Ginger Ale's 'Sugar Suzy': Great lead guitar breaks on this romantic ballad. A very good arrangement both instrumentally and vocally. Jumbo's 'I'm Leaving Today': Yes, this is the same Jumbo of Italian prog-rock fame. This track was an early pop-rock attempt by the group before they switched to prog-rock. Beautiful acoustic rhythm and lead guitar work can be found here, together with great vocals, both the lead and the background harmonies. Tucky Buzzard's 'You're All Alone': This track is an edited version of the track offered on TB's 1972 'Coming On Again' LP. I like the edited version much better as it comes without the rather uninspired hard-rock bridges that TB originally included. This track is the best of this collection, and a soft-rock masterpiece in my view. Overall, this compilation is a very strong, and is, I believe, essential for bubblegum enthusiast. Again, the sound quality may be an issue for some.
