The Roots - Roots Live mp3 album
The discography of The Roots, an American hip hop band, consists of fourteen solo studio albums, three collaborative studio albums, three compilation albums, two extended plays, and two live albums. The Roots began performing in 1989 as The Square Roots with rapper Black Thought and drummer Questlove. Rapper Malik . and bassist Leonard Hubbard joined the band in 1991. Over its history, Questlove and Black Thought have always remained with The Roots while their lineup of backing musicians has changed.
Releasing an album recorded live in concert makes more sense for the Roots than any other hip-hop artist, considering they've always concentrated on live prowess over their skills on the mic or in the production booth. The standard yboards lineup of most rock bands is a reality for this group, and after years of requests from rabid fans, the Roots acquiesced with a document of their live experience, titled The Roots Come Alive. Recorded at two venues in New York and one in Paris, the album distills exactly what the Roots bring to the hip-hop world - a live experience.
The long-awaited live album from DIRKSCHNEIDER's 'Back To The Roots Tour' will be released on October 28th as 2-CD Digipak and Gatefold 3-Vinyl in 4 different colors (black, gold, silver and clear) via AFM Records
The Roots started out in Philadelphia, formed in 1987 by emcee Tariq ‘Black Thought‘ Trotter and drummer and bandleader Ahmir ‘Questlove’ Thompson. Throughout their whole career, The Roots have captured with style and grace the essence of true Hip Hop, using live instrumentation, intelligent lyrics and masterful rhythmic engineering. Having Black Thought as the lead emcee – who has to be recognized as one of the greatest emcees EVER – only helps to solidify The Roots’ status as one of Hip Hop elite acts . From the somewhat underrated sixth Roots album The Tipping Point, this is an excellent tribute to two of the greatest emcees ever: Big Daddy Kane and Kool G Rap. Boom! has Black Thought – who is one of the greatest emcees ever himself – ‘impersonating’ Big Daddy Kane and Kool G Rap on the second and third verse, adopting their style, flow, and diction.
The Roots' focus on live music began back in 1987, when rapper Black Thought (Tariq Trotter) and drummer ?uestlove (Ahmir Khalib Thompson) became friends at the Philadelphia High School for Creative Performing Arts. Playing around school, on the sidewalk, and later at talent shows (with ?uestlove's drum kit backing Black Thought's rhymes), the pair began to earn money and hooked up with bassist Hub (Leon Hubbard) and rapper Malik B. Moving from the street to local clubs, the Roots became a highly tipped underground act around Philadelphia and New York . Early in 1996, the Roots released "Clones," the trailer single for their second album. It hit the rap Top Five, and created a good buzz. That September, Illadelph Halflife appeared and made number 21 on the Billboard 200. Much like its predecessor, though, the Roots' second LP was a difficult listen.
