Charles Mingus - The Black Saint And The Sinner Lady mp3 album
The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady is a studio album by American jazz musician Charles Mingus, released on Impulse! Records in 1963. The album consists of a single continuous y written as a ballet-divided into four tracks and six movements. The album was recorded on January 20, 1963 by an eleven-piece band. Mingus has called the album's orchestral style "ethnic folk-dance music". Mingus's perfectionism led to extensive use of studio overdubbing techniques.
A great Mingus album is a totally involving experience. This is especially true of one of the only jazz albums to have liner notes written by a clinical psychologist: The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady. Mingus chimes in with a peroration of his own, too, including, "I feel no need to explain any further the music herewith other than to say throw all other records of mine away except maybe one other

Important Album" Series. The Black Saint And The Sinner Lady. Despite some conceptual flaws, The Black Saint And The Sinner Lady is a unique record. If you find it hard to get into jazz because "it all sounds the same" (well, it doesn't, but much of it does, especially when you begin exploring the huge catalogs of jazz masters in depth), this is one of the obvious choices to dispel that notion - a record whose very mission is to transcend the limitations of the jazz.

The power of this music and the other two works is that you can almost visually see as you're listening, the aspects of Mingus' life he's conveying through sounds. Granted this music isn't for everyone, but if you liked those two other pieces, then this is for you. Mingus, along with Gil Evans, was probably one of the most significant composer/arrangers in the history of jazz (ironically, they both died in Mexico).
