Leroy May (18 March 1966 – 31 July 2015), better known as Red Dragon and initially as Redman, was a Jamaican deejay who was active starting in the early 1980s. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, May deejayed with several sound systems in the early 1980s, including Barrington Hi Fi, Stone Love, People's Choice, and his own Rambo Mango, initially working under the name Redman. His "Laughing Dragon" dubplate became popular, prompting a change of stage name to Red Dragon
Red Dragon is a 2002 psychological horror film based on the novel of the same title by Thomas Harris. It is a prequel to The Silence of the Lambs (1991) and Hannibal (2001). The novel was originally adapted into the film Manhunter (1986). The film was directed by Brett Ratner and written for the screen by Ted Tally, who also wrote the screenplay for The Silence of the Lambs.
Patina is his second album with Red Dragon Cartel, the band he put together after a hiatus from the music business that spanned roughly two decades. Prior to retreating from the spotlight, Lee made a name for himself as one of hard rock’s premiere shredders, first with Ozzy Osbourne, with whom he played from 1983 to 1987, and then with his own blues-rock outfit, Badlands
Despite the lineup debacles and mixed reception that followed Red Dragon Cartel’s 2014 debut, their second full-length album presents an infinitely more confident band. The group will always be recognized as a vehicle for former Ozzy guitarist Jake E. Lee, but Patina doesn’t have room for any special guest vocalists or stylistic pandering. Despite the lineup debacles and mixed reception that followed Red Dragon Cartel’s 2014 debut, their second full-length album presents an infinitely more confident band.
Red dragons, referred to by sages as D. conflagratio horribilis, were covetous, evil creatures, interested only in their own well-being, vanity and the extension of their treasure hoards. They were supremely confident of their own abilities and were prone to making snap decisions without any forethought. They were the most fearsome and cruel of the chromatic dragons, they breathed a cone of fire. These dragons delighted in ruin, death and destruction.

Guitar hero Jake E. Lee is back with a new Red Dragon Cartel album, and it’s the band’s first since 2014. Which is actually not all that long, considering the extensive lineup changes and not-rushed recording process that led to the creation of Patina. Esposito also owns Obscenic Arts Studio, where Red Dragon Cartel recorded Patina. Having a slightly more relaxed recording atmosphere comes through loud and clear on the record, which definitely sounds like a relaxed band jamming hard around those endless riffs. And one of those band members is new guy Phil Varone, who you may know from Saigon Kick and Skid Row, on drums. Jonas, the old drummer, I love Jonas, and he was perfect for the band at the beginning, but when it came to writing, I could see where he wa. e needed a new drummer.
