Marcelo Zarvos - Music Journal mp3 album

Music Journal, the brilliant third CD from Brazilian pianist and composer Marcelo Zarvos reveals his passion for elaborate musical journeys, legendary Brazilian folklore, rhythms and tempos. The gifted prodigy offers his sensibilities on "Forro en Curuipe" a stellar piece that affords a stunning display of Dorothy Lawson's great talent on cello and Peter Epstein's melodic soprano saxophone diversity enveloped in Zarvo's delightful piano virtuosity.

Marcelo Zarvos: Music Journal by Jim Santella, published on July 1, 2000. Zarvos’ acoustic piano works from composed impressionism. The session features Peter Epstein’s distinctive flute-like soprano sax with round edges. His interpretation of melody works well alongside swirling brushes on drumheads. There are no sharp edges. Each provides added proof that Zarvos’ chamber jazz is unique. There are subtle references to music from several different continents. Avenida Paulista" stands out as the one piece that’s different from all the rest. It’s drawn from Brazilian folk music.
