Pharmakon is the solo experimental music project of Margaret Chardiet (born June 19, 1990), based out of New York City and formed in 2007. Pharmakon's live musical act has been described as confrontational and concise, attempting to "cross the boundary between performer and audience".
While working on her newest release, she began to evaluate the project as a whole. The atmosphere that Pharmakon creates is just absolutely unsettling and outright frighting at times. A true spectacle of raw energy, power and talent.

As a founding member of the Red Light District collective in Far Rockaway, NY she has been a figurehead in the underground experimental scene since the age of seventeen. nunezaugusto The album pins you down from the very beginning. Margaret's scream followed by the screeching and the droning. This album must be played without pauses.

Margaret Chardiet has announced a new Pharmakon album called Contact. The follow-up to 2014’s Bestial Burden is out March 31 via Sacred Bones. For Contact, Chardiet sought the moments when our mind can come outside of and transcend our bodies, according to a press release. The album is also structured around the four stages of trance: preparation, onset, climax, and resolution. Below, hear a new song from the album, Transmission. Scroll down for the tracklist, the cover artwork, and Chardiet’s upcoming tour dates. In a statement, Chardiet said
Noise artist Margaret Chardiet, aka Pharmakon, returns this week with Contact, a sister album to 2014’s Bestial Burden that sees the New Yorker still confronting her mortality after a serious illness. Adam Bychawski hears how she was liberated by the realisation that we’re all nothing but a speck in the universe. Bestial Burden, Margaret Chardiet’s 2014 album as Pharmakon, ended with a line that haunted you long after the music died down. The New York noisemaker howled I don’t belong here into the void, before being drowned out by a chilling chorus of laughter.
