Ar Log mp3 album
Ar Log is a Welsh band playing traditional music. Their name is Welsh for "For Hire". Ar Log has been performing and recording since 1976; the original members were Dave Burns (guitar), Dafydd Roberts (triple harp, flute), Gwyndaf Roberts (knee harp and bass), and Iolo Jones (fiddle). The four individuals were brought together by the Welsh Tourist Board, who were eager that a Welsh traditional group should represent the nation at that year's Interceltique festival in Lorient.

AR LOG was the first Welsh folk band to become a full-time professional outfit, and their contribution to raise the profile of Welsh traditional music has been immense, travelling as they did to many countries on several continents. All 9 members still have a busy life in work and at home, but they ventured to Germany in 2001 as part of their ‘Silver Tour’. It was a nostalgic journey as the original members first performed in Germany back in 1976, and it became Ar Log’s second home in the early 80’s, as they returned regularly to perform, for periods of up to nine weeks at a time.
Nansi subsequently endorsed Ar Log's first album. Iolo Jones is originally from Caerphilly, a former coal mining town in south Wales. Iolo was originally a classically trained fiddler but succeeded in crossing over to the folk genre. Ar Log IV was recorded in 1984, going some way to dispelling a common myth that Ar Log had somehow become Dafydd Iwan's backing group. Ar Log's ability to convert simple tunes into sophisticated harmonies is demonstrated in tracks such as Cerrig y Rhyd. By 1988, Iolo Jones had returned as a second fiddler. Ar Log V probably remains the group's most prominent album in terms of blending the synthesiser into the traditional elements.
Their first album, ‘Ar Log’, followed. 1980 ~ Dave Burns and Iolo Jones left the group and in their places: Geraint Glynne Davies ~ guitar Graham Pritchard ~ fiddle & later ~ Stephen (‘Steffan’) Rees ~ accordion, fiddle, keyboards & clarinet. 1988 ~ fiddlers change again, as Graham Pritchard leaves and Iolo Jones returns.

However, by now, Ar Log had essentially become a part-time operation, as the group's members had found full-time employment elsewhere. In August 2018 Ar Log released Ar Log VII at The National Eisteddfod in Cardiff - 40 years almost to the day after they released their first album Ar Log (I) at The National Eisteddfod in Cardiff in 1978.
