Iggy And The Stooges - Ready To Die mp3 album

Ready to Die is the fifth and final studio album by American rock band Iggy and the Stooges. The album was released on April 30, 2013, by Fat Possum Records. The album debuted at number 96 on the Billboard 200 chart. On February 25, 2013, Iggy Pop announced that The Stooges' fifth album Ready to Die would be released on April 30, 2013. In July 2013, in an interview with Guitar World, Iggy Pop spoke about the song titled "DD's", saying: "It's funny that that song gets a lot of attention

The Stooges' fifth album Ready to Die avoids the pitfalls of 2007's disastrous reunion album The Weirdness, but 40 years removed from the kamikaze death-trip fantasies of Raw Power, it's the sound of Iggy admitting, I’m too old for this shit. We could’ve been the American Stones, Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton told MOJO magazine back in 1996.

Ready to Die’ is a failure because it’s been entered – possibly cynically – into a category in which it can’t possibly compete. The Departed’ quotes and name-drops two classic Stooges tracks, ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’ and ‘Death Trip’, and looking back to the glory days – when Iggy could convincingly claim to be ‘a street-walking cheetah with a heart full of napalm’ – doesn’t do the new material any favours. Just so we’re clear: Iggy Pop is an unbelievable performer, songwriter and artist; The Stooges are undoubtedly one of the greatest bands in the history of rock ’n’ roll; their live show is totally incendiary; and they’ve earned the right to make a new album that justifies their artistic need to keep making new music.

Ready To Die finds Iggy Pop, guitarist James Williamson and drummer Scott "Rock Action" Asheton reunited for a full album of all-new material with Mike Watt filling in for the late Ron Asheton on bass. The results are the closest thing to a time capsule to 1973 - or at least to Iggy's subsequent efforts with Williamson, including 1977's Kill City and 1979's New Values - that rock 'n' roll is likely to proffer in this millennium. In the Stooges' live performances, the saxophone in particular is often buried under mega-decibal guitar, but on Ready to Die it really comes through beautifully. 31 people found this helpful.

Iggy Pop knows that the new Stooges album, Ready to Die, is unlikely to compete with Justin TimberlakeandTaylor Swift at the handful of record stores that still exist. I didn’t do this expecting to make money out of it, he tells Rolling Stone. It’s a lot of work, but I felt it was something that had to be done. This is my teenage dream, having a band that makes records and plays gigs. Williamson’s work on Ready to Die marks his first collaboration with Iggy in over 30 years. Iggy and Williamson wrote the eight songs on Raw Power together, but the album tanked, heroin abuse consumed the band, and when they played their final show at Detroit’s Michigan Palace in 1974, they were literally dodging beer bottles all night. Looking back, it’s probably better that we didn’t have any success, Willamson says. If we made any money, we would have killed ourselves because we were taking so many drugs.

Punk rock legends Iggy and the Stooges are heading back to stores this spring with their latest studio album, 'Ready to Die,' and we're now getting our first taste of the disc, courtesy of the new track 'Burn. The driving rocker is filled with guitar goodness, with frontman Iggy Pop leading the way on the chorus, "Burn, burn, they're taking over baby, Burn, burn, they're taking over. The hyper-sexual rocker also delivers the salacious lyric, "The goddess of beauty is begging to do me, I got a lesson to learn" in the song.

Ready To Die’, Iggy’s first album with The Stooges since 2007’s ‘The Weirdness’, is a different beast, and much more like the balls-on-the-board gutter-rock that made his name. Promoting the new Iggy and the Stooges album, Iggy Pop has struck a combative note. Among the serried ranks of classic bands that have reformed over the last decade, Iggy and the Stooges, he recently announced, are "a real fucking group", not a collection of musicians gathered together under a lucrative musical flag of convenience – "this is not the Smashing Pumpkins where it's like: 'We've got the bald guy and whoever.
