James Brown - Say It Live And Loud (08.26.68 Live In Dallas) mp3 album

James Brown certainly lived up his rep as The Hardest Working Man in Show Business when it came to live albums. The soul and funk legend released more than a dozen of them during his lifetime - including his legendary Live at the Apollo disc in 1962. By contrast, this energized, excellent electrified set from 1968 - which sat in the vaults for decades before being unleashed in 1998 - might not be as renowned. But pound for pound, you best believe just as much of a keeper.

Live at the Apollo is a live album by James Brown and the Famous Flames, recorded at the Apollo Theater in Harlem and released in 1963. The album is included in Robert Christgau's "Basic Record Library" of 1950s and 1960s recordings, published in Christgau's Record Guide: Rock Albums of the Seventies (1981). In 2003, the album was ranked number 25 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time

James Joseph Brown (May 3, 1933 – December 25, 2006) was an American singer, songwriter, dancer, musician, record producer and bandleader. A progenitor of funk music and a major figure of 20th century popular music and dance, he is often referred to as the "Godfather of Soul". In a career that lasted 50 years, he influenced the development of several music genres. Brown began his career as a gospel singer in Toccoa, Georgia.

By the time he was in his 30s, James Brown was more than a dominant musical voice: he was an outstanding African-American personality, period. Important enough to be drawn into the murky waters of national politics as an inspiration and role model, he was also feared and sometimes ridiculed. But he would not be denied. Nearly stillborn, then revived by an aunt in a country shack in the piney woods outside Barnwell, South Carolina, on May 3, 1933, Brown was determined to be Somebody.

James Brown- Get On The Good Foot, Part 1 The Godfather held the number one spot on lockdown for four weeks in 1972 with this classic tune, longer than any of his tunes since Say It Loud, I’m Black and I’m Proud four years earlier. What was so intriguing about a James Brown record was a picture of himself on the label. RIP James Brown, John Jabo Starks, St. Clair Pinckney

James Brown- Mother Popcorn (You Got To Have A Mother For Me) Part 1 Just in case you didn’t know, but most of you do, the godfather was NOT talking about the woman who brought him into the world and raised him, not in the lease bit. Mother was a code word for what the group EU reference and what Sir-Mix-A-Lot rapped about: A foxy female with a huge posterior: A BIG BUTT!!!! Popcorn reference’s the latest dance craze at that time. James sexual, funky tune held the number one spot on lockdown for two weeks in the summer of 1969.

Brown always achieved a live, spontaneous vibe on his recordings, but ‘Say It Loud’ was a masterpiece of in-the-room innovation, with the Godfather and his band facing each other so that the musicians could respond to his handcues. The extra ingredient was a choir of about 30 children from poor areas of Los Angeles in the call-and-response choruses.
