Sandinista! is the fourth studio album by the English band the Clash. It was released on 12 December 1980 as a triple album containing 36 tracks, with 6 songs on each side. Sandinista! was voted best album of the year in the Pazz & Jop critics poll in The Village Voice, and was ranked number 404 on the Rolling Stone list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time" in 2003. Slant Magazine listed the album at number 85 on its "Best Albums of the 1980s" list in 2012.

Sandinista! is The Clash in playful and artful mode, indulging themselves, fucking with the format, using the studio as an instrument. The music press let you get away with that sort of thing if you’re Brian Wilson or Lee Perry – but not if you’re some pasty-faced oiks from London. Then, it seems, you’re just a bunch of wankers. Washington Bullets The track that gives the album its title, Washington Bullets is an extraordinary song and a fitting end to our 48 minute version.

Album Name Sandinista! Type Album. Музыкальный стильPunk-Rock. Владельцы этого альбома50. DISC 1.

A triple-album was too much music it was argued, not only for listeners to comprehend but for The Clash to fill up with quality music. This may be semi-true; it is obvious to those listeners that sit through all 36 songs that the quality control is almost non-apparent. This is a shame as there are many excellent songs present that are lost amongst the murk.

Sandinista! was The Clash's response to the two-album set - The River - released by Bruce Springsteen. In what was a growing row with the record company after the smashing success of London Calling, The Clash wanted the financial backing to issue three records for the cost of a single lp and to promote it in the . with only a few gigs. Replace the arcade sounds with a soundtrack from a video game & toss in the "bad guy" of the moment and Ivan Meets . Joe becomes a timely classic from the new resource wars. I am sure The Clash was under pressure to deliver London Calling II and it can be argued that pairing Sandinista! down to about 12 tracks would have made for an absolutely brilliant album.

Sandinista! is the fourth studio album by the punk rock band The Clash. It was released in 1980 as a triple album containing 36 tracks, with 6 songs on each side. Sandinista! is the fourth studio album by the punk rock band The Clash. Anticipating the "world music" trend of the 1980s, it features reggae, jazz, mock gospel, rockabilly, folk, dub, rhythm and blues, calypso, and rap.
