James Carr - The Dark End Of The Street / Lovable Girl mp3 album

You Got My Mind Messed Up is a 1967 album by James Carr. Although Carr is not as well known as his contemporaries such as Otis Redding or Aretha Franklin, "You Got My Mind Messed Up" has been cited as one of the top soul music albums of all time. On the 2002 re-release Mojo magazine stated "This is undoubtedly one of the greatest soul albums of all time.

The Dark End of the Street" is a 1967 soul song written by songwriters Dan Penn and Chips Moman and first recorded by James Carr. The song was co-written by Penn, a professional songwriter and producer, and Moman, a former session guitarist at Phil Spector's Gold Star Studio, and also the owner of American Sound Studio in Memphis, Tennessee. The song itself was ultimately recorded across town at Royal Studios, home of HI Records.

You and me at the Dark end of the street You and me. I know time is Gonna take it's toll We have to pay for The love that we stole. It's a sin and We know it's wrong Oh, but our love Keeps coming on strong. Steal away to the Dark end of the street. They're gonna to find us They're gonna to find us They're gonna to find us Lord, someday. You and me at the Dark end of the street You and me. More on Genius. The Dark End of the Street" Track Info.

Carr was one of the last country-soul singers to approach any chart given to him as if it was a gift from God. Carr was Redding's rival in every respect if for no other reason than the release of this, his debut album recorded in 1966. The 12 songs here, many of them covered by other artists, are all soul classics merely by their having been sung and recorded by Carr. As the guitar cascades down the fretboard staccato, he can see the dark end of the street and holds it as close to his heart as a sacred and secret memory. By the album's end with the title track, listeners hear the totality of the force of Memphis soul.

The Dark End Of The Street. girl Oh girl How dare I think one thought What you are, what you can be What you mean, What you mean to me You are one word You are just one song Without you I know I'd fall Sweet as a flower That grows in the springtime You're as tender as a grape I'm so glad you are hanging. on my vine What a creation What a sensation Oh, What a loveable girl What a loveable girl You're so loveable Oh, You're loveable You're so kissable You're missin 'em Oh, You're so irrestistible.
