Bruch: Violin Concerto No. 26; Mozart: Violin Concertos No. 4 in D Major, . 18 & No. 5 in A Major, . 19 (Sony Classical Originals). For my taste, Jascha Heifetz has been the greatest violinist ever. He did many great recordings of principal violin works by the most important composers. This is a gem from the complete Heifetz series.
The Scottish Fantasy in E-flat major, Op. 46, is a composition for violin and orchestra by Max Bruch. 164 Completed in 1880, it was dedicated to the virtuoso violinist Pablo de Sarasate. It is a four-movement fantasy on Scottish folk melodies. The first movement is built on "Through the Wood Laddie". This tune, with its prominent Scots snap, also appears at the end of the second and fourth movements.
