Instead of the "let's play as fast as we can without any regard to the quality of our songs" mentality, there's a lot more personality and playfulness to go along with their raging adolescence. The easiest way to describe the style of a! would be skatepunk with a brain and a sense of humor. True, there are some elements of that, but there are also hints of pop-punk that would eventually mature into the sound of Screeching Weasel that everyone's familiar with.
