Clark Terry With Thelonious Monk - In Orbit mp3 album
In Orbit is an album by jazz trumpeter Clark Terry, also featuring Thelonious Monk, which was recorded in New York on May 7 & 12, 1958. It was Monk's only Riverside appearance as sideman, the first of Terry's recordings on flugelhorn, and the first Riverside date with bassist Sam Jones. Monk introduced Riverside to some its most important artists, including Johnny Griffin, Wilbur Ware, Sonny Rollins, and Terry. It features one Monk composition, "Let's Cool One".

One of Thelonious Monk's rare appearances as a sideman is on this quartet set led by flügelhornist Clark Terry. With bassist Sam Jones and drummer Philly Joe Jones, Terry and pianist Monk perform a set that surprisingly has only one Monk song ("Let's Cool One"). Among the high points of this spirited, boppish date are Terry's "One Foot in the Gutter" and "Argentia.
But this is Clark Terry's album with Monk as a sideman. Terry fans will note the presence of the title track, which jump starts the album in fine fashion, as well as the curious, foreboding closer "Very Near Blue" and intricate "Moonlight Fiesta" and a few other, less distinct jams. Best of all may be the second track, "One Foot in the Gutter", which features some unusual changes, especially in the bridge near the end.
