Jakob Bro - Bay Of Rainbows mp3 album
That Manfred Eicher has chosen to follow up Jakob Bro's impressive quartet date, Returnings, less than seven months later with Bay of Rainbows clearly speaks to the label head/primary producer's appreciation for the guitarist's work. Bro may not be an overtly virtuosic player (though he's clearly capable of more than he largely lets on), but that's never been what's driven the Danish guitarist. The 47-minute, LP-friendly set draws largely on material from Bro's growing repertoire of original music. Two variations on Bro/Knak's "Mild" bookend the album, both versions adopting a darker complexion than the 2012 original, and both considerably lengthier explorations as well. The almost nine-minute version that opens Bay of Rainbows feels folkloric in approach, with Morgan a strong contrapuntal foil to Bro's arpeggiations, as Baron treads a fine line between texture and time while the trio also explores the subtext of dynamics throughout the piece
Danish guitarist Jakob Bro returns with another album made by his working trio with double bassist Thomas Morgan and drummer Joey Baron, previously heard on Streams (ECM, 2016). Recorded live at Jazz Standard in New York in July, 2017, it is also Bro's first live recording for the label. The repertoire mainly documents Bro originals that the trio has been playing for years, most of them predating his ECM albums as leader. Opener "Mild" was first recorded on Bro/Knak (Loveland Records, 2012). Bro begins it with gentle fingerstyle rubato playing, appropriate for the title. Bay of Rainbows is a fine addition to Bro's already extensive discography. His ECM albums have featured a classic production sound, everything taking place in a large, reverberant virtual space. It is satisfying to hear this music played in a club, coming to life in front of an audience-and a potent demonstration of this trio's experienced, inspired music-making. Track Listing: Mild; Red Hook; Copenhagen; Dug; Evening Song; Mild (Va. Personnel: Jakob Bro: guitar; Thomas Morgan: double bass; Joey Baron: drums.

Jakob Bro. Bay Of Rainbows. This poetically attuned group follows its ECM studio album of 2016, Streams – which The New York Times lauded as ravishing – with what Bro calls a dream come true, an album recorded live in New York City, over two nights at the Jazz Standard. Others – Evening Song, Red Hook and the volatile Dug – are recast intimately and elastically for trio after having been initially.
Jakob Bro’s trio with two kindred-spirit Americans, bassist Thomas Morgan and drummer Joey Baron, follows its 2016 album Streams with an album recorded live in New York City over two nights at the Jazz Standard. Bay of Rainbows rolls on waves of contemplative emotion, with a gradually enveloping lyricism the lodestar. 07/09/2018. Jakob Bro. 23/03/2018. 23/09/2016. 07/07/2015. 06/02/2015. 01/10/2013. Bay of Rainbows compiles music drawn from two nights at New York's Jazz Standard in 2017 by Danish guitarist Jakob Bro with his American counterparts Thomas Morgan on upright bass and Joey Baron on drums - the same trio he showcased on his 2016 ECM studio album, Streams. Bro and his band intricately explore tunes from his catalog, including "Red Hook" (whose oringal studio version dates to 2007's Pearl River) and the more recent "Copenhagen" (Gefion, 2015).
