Knock Loud Tracklist. 2. Black girl Lyrics.
Their sound is still distinctly from Detroit, offering gobs of loud guitars and supercharged drumming that give the material the edge that's necessary to make it work. With more hooks than a bait shop and an impeccable sense of timing, songs like "If I Fell" and "Just You Wait" are energetic nuggets that find their success in simplicity. Written by singer/guitarist Wendy Case and guitarist Marco Delicato, the album has a directness that keeps the whole affair lean and fast-paced.
Knock Loud is a glorious exclamation of everything that is true about rock and roll. Loudness, attitude, solid beats, groovy lyrics. If you miss the boat on this one, rock lovers, then there may be no hope at all. Tune your ears to The Paybacks and just let it all hang out. This isn't phony rock for the Skyy Blue sipping hipsters. This is for the people who still feel the need to get trashed and nasty on the weekends before getting their sit together Monday morning. But there's nothing wrong with a little attitude during the week, either .
The Payback" is a funk song by James Brown, the title track from his 1973 album of the same name. The song's lyrics, originally written by trombonist and bandleader Fred Wesley but heavily revised by Brown himself soon before it was recorded, concern the revenge he plans to take against a man who betrayed him. The song is notable for its sparse, open arrangement and its use of wah-wah guitar – a relative rarity in Brown's previous funk recordings.
They never did the album though. They seemed to get fed up of John Sinclair imposing his politics on them. A real waste of a great band. BC. Eddie Senay Hot Thang (Sussex)1972. An irresistable slab of guitar funk from Sussex, the label that put out most of Dennis Coffey's greats. Has there been a better pop rock song from anywhere in the past decade? A great album. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs did and the Paybacks didn't? Wait, what? -BC. Brother Will Hairston "Alabama Bus". Back in the '60s, my father played the record "Alabama Bus," by Brother Will Hairston, in his 12th Street record shop, and I remember its "rat-a-tat-tat, rat-a-tat-tat" staccato (that was Washboard Willie in the backround). Stop that Alabama Bus/ I don't wanna to ride/ the Alabama boycott/ I don't wanna ride.
