Fog - Ether Teeth mp3 album

Ether Teeth sags briefly midway through- "No Boys Allowed" and "Apologizing to Mystery" are both half-conceived- but immediately after, the 11-minute "Wallpaper Sink or Swim" seems a clear and devestating revelation. After five minutes of its barely-there piano and jutting left-channel samples, a thundering melody harkens a new beginning, killing itself on an odd chord before rising again as a dramatic, ascending progression. Fog lays down some skillful, ambitious, and certainly curious foundations on Ether Teeth, but his coloring book isn't completely filled in. But that he's made such a tremendous leap from his amateurish if promising debut to this highly developed, emotionally attenuated sound manipulation speaks to his future.

Ether Teeth is the beginning process of colouring Andrew Broder’s picture masterpiece. The album commences the process of filling in the needed colours of Fog’s musical genre and interpretation. Without losing its foundation created on the debut, boundaries have been stretched slightly to create a more polished and experimental release with Ether Teeth. But unfortunately, Fog has not bitten more than they can chew. The album does not fill the picture completely with stagnant and contemptible songs like No Boys Allowed and I Call This Song Old Tymes Dude .

Reviews about Fog - Ether Teeth (1):
Dianaghma
Fog’s second album, ETHER TEETH, shows more restraint from his self-titled debut. The opening track, “Plum Dumb,” is a hazy dream in a sunny countryside. Many of the tracks that follow hem closely to the indie rock spirit, with some folk sensibilities thrown in there (“Up a Anvil Tree” is an excellent example). The beats aren’t as bombastic, and he shows greater control over the extraneous noises that detracted from his debut. “Boys Not Allowed” recombines these elements into a somewhat cohesive whole. The vocals, however, have a strained, lo-fi quality that match the subdued mood of the album, even if they can be grating in large amounts. “Wallpaper Sink or Swim,” at its 11-minute running time, is a sound collage that doesn’t integrate its elements as much as it simply juxtaposes them. A strange and subtle album.
