New Moon Over Jamaica. Written by Paul McCartney, Tom T. Hall, Johnny Cash. In May of 1988, Johnny showed up at Paul’s studio in England wanting to record the song, for inclusion on his upcoming album Water From The Wells Of Home. He had brought along Tom T. Hall, another country singer friend of his and the two of them had made a few modifications to the song. Tom and Linda McCartney sang harmony vocals. TO CHANGE: Unlike Johnny’s country version, Paul’s demo is done with a reggae beat.

New (stylised as NEW) is the sixteenth solo studio album by Paul McCartney released on 14 October 2013 in the United Kingdom and the following day in the United States. The album was his first since 2007's Memory Almost Full to consist entirely of new compositions. The album was executive produced by Giles Martin, with production by Martin, Mark Ronson, Ethan Johns and Paul Epworth and it was mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound, New York.

Paul McCartney songs like Dear Boy" and I'm Carrying show the ex-Beatle never lost his flair. This track begins as a simple piano tale of a guy addressing the ex of his new love. But then the backing vocals kick in with countermelodies from every angle, and pretty soon you’re awash in a dizzyingly tuneful sea and won’t ever want to come back ashore. 2. Dear Friend (1971) John Lennon sideswiped McCartney with How Do You Sleep? in 1971, a vicious lambasting of Paul’s perceived lack of talent. Macca’s rejoinder was restrained and a tad sorrowful, a subtle burying of the hatchet found on Paul’s first album with Wings, 1971’s Wild Life. In the song, he acknowledges his post-Beatles life and wonders if his old friendship has some kind of place in it. 3. Treat Her Gently/Lonely Old People (1975) Venus And Mars found Wings in full arena-rock mode, for good and bad.

Macca is determined to dazzle: not only are the melodies bold but the production is over-saturated so his pop pops in a way it hasn't in years, not since the days when a Top 40 single was a genuine possibility. Paul isn't chasing a hit single but rather embracing pop as a vital, vivacious life force, which makes the presence of "Early Days" all the more baffling. A stark acoustic recounting of the dawn of the Beatles, McCartney seems defensive here as he wonders how anybody who wasn't in Hamburg could possibly tell tales of the Fab's origins,.
