While Fixed is quality loopy tool-ey techno in the typical motor skills Mick Harris fashion, it’s the A side, Report, which is arguably the finest piece he’s ever come up with, and published under this moniker. For reference only, it also to this day remains one of my top ten techno tracks of the nineties.

When Broken Is Easily Fixed is the debut studio album by Canadian post-hardcore band Silverstein, released in 2003 under the label Victory Records. Forming in early 2000, Silverstein released two EPs, Summer's Stellar Gaze (2000) and When the Shadows Beam (2002). On October 22, 2002, it was announced that the band had signed to Victory Records. When Broken Is Easily Fixed was recorded at Mount Fairview and Unity Gain between January and February 2003 with producer Justin Koop

The tracks on Report/Fixed and Process 1 & 2 were originally released in '96 on ZET, but re-released here on Berceuse Heroique and capture the zeitgeist of the club in its heyday - these are just some of the tracks he released under the Monrella moniker up until 2002. They still sound impressive today, with their furious and hypnotic style of stomp that took its cues just as much from classic Purpose Maker and M-Plant as it did from O'Connor's revered Downwards imprint at the time.

An album is a collection of audio recordings issued as a collection on compact disc (CD), vinyl, audio tape, or another medium. Albums of recorded music were developed in the early 20th century as individual 78-rpm records collected in a bound book resembling a photograph album; this format evolved after 1948 into single vinyl LP records played at 33 1⁄3 rpm. Vinyl LPs are still issued, though album sales in the 21st-century have mostly focused on CD and MP3 formats.

Monrella aka Mick Harris, the man that invented the blast beat and one of the most crucial members of the seminal band Napalm Death. He experimented with a lot of styles of music afterwards (notably, Scorn, Lull and Fret) but back 1996 he took the template of Detroit techno, added some Birmingham grit and Monrella was born. Proper Birmingham motor funk straight from the House Of God (seminal Birmingham club night) school of debauchery. It sounds like medieval church organ keys and stabs have been mixed with shrapnel and then pulled through a gigantic shredder machine.Perfectly modulated organic passage emitted from the side ejection port, discordant notes harmoniously going up and down a bar or two, over a tremendous beat, four to full on four blasting madness. This is an exemplary case of the mid nineties precision minimal UK sound. Monotonous, captivating, dry and condensed, scarce in sounds and layers applied, yet extremely endowed in the execution department, and tongue in cheek enforcement. No presumptuous geekiness and futile preponderance here, just incompressible techno fury for the head strong. Demagogy of the obscurants level is maximal, as this is a tough one to track down and acquire. Well worth the effort though.
