Stanisław Sojka, 2004. The concert was recorded and released in 1979 as Soyka’s debut album entitled "Don’t You Cry". In that year Stanisław Soyka also won the top prize at Lubelskie Spotkania Jazzowe (Lublin Jazz Conference). In the next six yeards he released three more jazz albums and one of religious music. He was named the best Polish jazz vocalist by readers of the magazine "Jazz Forum", from 1983 to 1988. In the same period Soyka also recorded some pop songs for Polish Radio, which were later collected on the album Radioaktywny, released in 1989.

Stanisław Soyka is a pianist, vocalist, and composer. He was born on 26th April 1959 in Żory. He graduated from the State Music School in Gliwice, the Secondary Music School in Katowice, and the Faculty of Arrangement and Composition at the Academy of Music in Katowice. In 1986, he signed a contract with the German branch of RCA Records, for whom he recorded his first album of his own material entitled Stanisław Sojka. In 1995, he recorded Retrospekcja, an album featuring his most famous songs composed in the previous 10 years. In the same year, he released an album of Shakespeare’s sonnets translated into Polish – Sonety Shakespeare. It was the result of his cooperation with writer and translator Maciej Słomczyński.
