Small Town Talk Lyrics. It's all small town talk, you know how people are They can't stand to see someone else doing what they like to It's all small town talk, you mustn't pay no mind Don't believe a word, they'll try to do it every time.

Bobby Charles (1938-2010) was early rock’s ragin’ Cajun, a white Louisiana cat who wrote and sang with down-home R&B vigor. By the early Seventies, Charles – the author of See You Later Alligator and the Fats Domino hit Walkin’ to New Orleans – was in Woodstock cutting this simple diamond of swampy drawl and country-hippie soul with Dr. John and most of the Band. Songs like Small Town Talk and Street People have the unhurried swing of a hammock on a bayou porch

Robert Charles Guidry (February 21, 1938 – January 14, 2010), known as Bobby Charles, was an American rhythm & blues singer and songwriter. An ethnic Cajun, Charles was born in Abbeville, Louisiana, and grew up listening to Cajun music and the country and western music of Hank Williams. At the age of 15, he heard a performance by Fats Domino, an event that "changed my life forever," he recalled.

This gives the album an earthier quality than anything else he recorded; it also makes the album feel like a perfect companion piece to other roots rock albums from the time like, of course, the Band. Still, there's a special charm to this record, largely because while it sounds contemporary, it retains Charles' mellow vibe and his sharp songwriting. The songs come on slow - "Street People," "He's Got All the Whiskey," and "Small Town Talk" all slowly unwind - but the slow build is friendly, welcoming you into the song.

a lot of times they get picked up the second or third time around. Warm and crackling as a campfire, easeful and understated, all of it suffused with Charles' nuanced blend of humor and empathy, this 1972 eponymous album was one of the "good ones" that got lost
