Bittersweet 93rd birthday for veteran Hong Kong DJ ‘Uncle Ray’ as he mourns friend and singer Mona Fong. The radio legend is excusing himself from the memorial of his good friend for some quiet time to recall fond memories and tunes. Nothing can describe the mixed feelings of veteran Hong Kong radio DJ Ray Cordeiro as he celebrates his birthday while also mourning the death of a long-time friend. Uncle Ray, who turns 93 on Tuesday, reflected on 60 years of fond memories with. late singer Mona Fong Yat-wah. whose memorial also falls on the same day.

Tribute to Uncle Ray is the second studio album by Stevie Wonder. Released by Motown in October 1962 shortly after The Jazz Soul of Little Stevie, it had been recorded first, when Wonder was just 11 years old. The album was an attempt by Berry Gordy and Motown to associate the young "Little Stevie Wonder" with the successful and popular Ray Charles who was also a blind African American musician.

It was like nothing I’d ever imagined. It blew my mind completely. 145. The Zombies, 'Odyssey And Oracle' (1968) CBS. Paul Weller: It’s one of my all-time favourite records. When it came out in 1968 this type of music was completely unheralded. It’s very English, with wistful melodies. Widely considered to be the greatest reggae album of all time, 'Natty Dread' positioned Marley as both groundbreaking musician and socio-political icon. This is an image 61 of 100.

From introduction: "Hi, this is Uncle Ray! Over the years I introduced and presented the local pop scene of the 60's. Most of my local listeners are mainly Chinese teenagers who grew up with my kind of music and upon graduation, some have immigrated to different parts of the world, like Toronto, Vancouver, the United States, Australia and UK but still listening to my late night shows, thanks to the Internet.

"As we grew older we cast our memories to the good old days remembering the good old teenage times. With this in mind, I have sought the help of Universal Records to put together a huge collection of the 60s and 70s music that bought us such joy during our younger days. This rare opportunity was very carefully selected and some of these recordings are no longer available. So be proud, be happy, sit back and put the first CD on and relax... You were young, carefree, and life was simple, wonderful, and those good old memories may never come back again."

Uncle Ray's accolades on front cover: Guinness World Records: The World's Most Durable Radio DJ, Lifetime Achievement Award in Broadcasting, MBE By Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England, BBS - Bronze Bauhinia Star Award By HKSAR.

Description from Uncle Ray's website: "101 of Uncle Ray's all time favorite songs performed by legendary artists from Hong Kong. If you are interested to know more about the history of the Hong Kong music scene, you got to order one copy of this CD. Some of the songs were digitalized from Uncle Ray's private vinyl collection, so you won't be able to find them on any other CD."

Comes in fold-out box. Includes 64-page booklet with lyrics for all songs.

Why not take time out to listen to the Mona Fong tracks on youtube? She's a wonderful singer in a Doris Day style.
