Black, Brown and Beige is a 1958 jazz album by Duke Ellington and his orchestra, featuring Mahalia Jackson. The album is a recording of a revised version of Ellington's Black, Brown and Beige suite. It was through weekly radio broadcasts from the Cotton Club that the orchestra gained nationwide exposure and became famous. Duke Ellington and his Orchestra is perhaps the greatest of all Jazz bands.

The Ellington sound the world would come to know & love blossomed in the late 1920s, before the Swing Era took center stage in America's pop/jazz music development. In the early days of jazz, many musicians, especially black musicians, got the shaft with recording contracts. Consequently, many would jump ship to other labels to get a better deal. Ellington recorded for over a dozen different labels.

Duke Ellington was the most important composer in the history of jazz as well as being a bandleader who held his large group together continuously for almost 50 years. EAC extraction logfile from 6. October 2013, 19:01. Duke Ellington, Black beauty.
