Styx released 'Paradise Theatre' in January 1981. After spending the better part of a decade struggling to achieve their mainstream breakthrough, Styx finally hit the multi-platinum jackpot with a trio of hit records in the late '70s - and then, emboldened by success, they went for broke with an ambitious gamble that paid off with their only No. 1 album to date. One album before Styx cut loose with an honest-to-goodness concept album, Kilroy Was Here, they flirted with the idea on Paradise Theater. The concept here has something to do with the decline of America in the '70s, based on the condemnation and destruction of the Paradise Theater, a famous showplace in the band's hometown of Chicago. Paradise Theatre was just a great album by Styx, and came along while they were still reeling from all the previous success's they had from their prior albums. A lot of great tunes are on this album.

Paradise Theatre is a concept album by Styx that follows the rise and fall of the Paradise Theatre and it’s owner.
